How do I create a puzzle?Updated 2 months ago

Creating your own custom photo puzzle is simple and easy. All you need to do is select the number of pieces you want and a template, upload your photos, choose your box, and check out! If you run into any problems along the way, we're here to help. For more in-depth help getting started, we've listed all the steps to create your own puzzle below.

There are two ways to enter the design process: by clicking on one of the "Create" buttons on the homepage or by first selecting a template.

Starting from the homepage:

  1. Select your puzzle size at the top of the page, then click "Create Your Custom Puzzle."
We offer options from 48 to 2000 pieces, so there's an option for every puzzler! For help picking the perfect size, you can review our Size Guide or read this FAQ about choosing the right puzzle.
Please note: some of the other Create buttons on the homepage will load the puzzle designer with a pre-selected piece count. To change your puzzle size, please exit the designer, and follow the instruction above.

  2. Select a template.
Select "Layout" to browse templates. Whether you want to use one perfect photo or create a collage, we've got lots of options! If you're feeling overwhelmed by the number of options, you can close this screen with the "X" in the upper right corner, then navigate to any category from our main navigation in order to apply helpful filters that will narrow down your choices.

Please continue to step 3 below.

Starting from a template:

  1. Select a template.
Whether you want to use one perfect photo or create a collage, we've got options! You can browse all of the templates we offer, or choose from popular filters like number of photos, recipient, or occasion to narrow down the options to suit your needs.

  2. Select your puzzle size, and click Create.
We offer options from 48 to 2000 pieces, so there's an option for every puzzler! For help picking the perfect size, you can review our Size Guide or read this FAQ about choosing the right puzzle.

  3. Upload your photo(s).
Use the "Upload photo(s)" button (on mobile, click "Photos" to get this option) to choose which photo or photos to use for your puzzle. Once you've uploaded your photo, you may click the photo within the puzzle to crop or zoom to show what you want on the puzzle. You can also check the resolution to make sure that the photo is large enough. Please note that this will not check whether or not your photo is sharp enough. More information on images can be found in our Image Files & Quality section.

  4. Optional: Add text to your puzzle.
To add text, click the "Add text to the puzzle" button (simply "Text" on mobile). Here, you can enter your text, and adjust the font, size, color, and alignment. Once you apply your text, you can resize the text box and change the position of the text on the puzzle.

  5. Once you've finished designing your puzzle, click the blue "Continue" button.

  6. Choose your box.
There are two categories of box designs (on mobile, select "Layout" to access these). Some templates have corresponding box designs. If you've selected a template that has a matching box design, this is the design that's automatically applied. Others templates don't have a matching box design. These will load with our standard box design. In either cases, you are free to choose whatever box design you like best for your custom puzzle! You even have the option to select a box that doesn't show the puzzle. This makes the puzzle more challenging to complete, and also keeps the final design a surprise!

  7. Optional: Add text to the box.
Each box design has a space for text. Look for the text that says "Please enter text here," and click on it to enter your text. Here you can also edit the text font, size, color, and alignment.
If you can't find the placeholder text on the box, click the "Add to cart" button - a text box will pop-up confirming whether or not you'd like to add text. Click the blue "Change now" button - the text box will disappear and the custom text field on the box will be highlighted. Repeat this process if you still can't find the placeholder text.
If you do not want to add text to your box, click "Add to cart," then click "Continue without a box title" in the pop-up.

  8. Click the blue "Add to cart" button when you're finished.
You may create more puzzles, or begin the checkout process!
